Manages a staff responsible for all phases of the system development and implementation process including analysis, design, development, testing, and ongoing support for the client area application systems in an environment of diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server), software, hardware, technology, tools, etc. Consults with functional management in the analysis of short and long range business requirements and recommends innovations which anticipate the future impact of changing business requirements.

Coordinates activities with other data processing unit heads (e.g., data base, telecommunications, operations, technical support, etc.).

Organizes and controls the activities of the section, assigns personnel to the various projects and directs their activities. Reviews and evaluates the work of the staff and prepares periodic performance reports. Prepares activity and progress reports for the section. Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Prudential Financial is seeking a software development manager with 3 to 5 (or more) years of experience in the areas of analysis, design, development, and implementation of complex computer systems. The successful candidate will be involved in the Individual Life Insurance (ILI) Enterprise Content Management (ECM) product selection proof-of-concept, day-to-day technical management of the environment, problem resolution, and technical oversight of the ILI image and workflow environment.

Job Requirements:

- 3- 5 years experience with Java/J2EE, JDBC, Websphere, RDBMS, WSAD (or equivalent development tool)

- 3-5 years experience with ECM products would be a plus; Unisys InfoImage, FileNet, and/or IBM Content Manager preferred

- Experience with C++, Visual Basic, and ASP would be a plus

- Strong interpersonal skills are essential

- Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team

- Individual should have strong analytical and decision making skills

- The individual should be well organized and possess good time management skills

- Significant technical project management experience required with PMP Certification desirable.

- Must be able to communicate effectively with business and systems personnel

- BS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience required.

- Off hours support of production activity including weekend release support is required.

- Experience in overseeing outsourced support functions is a plus.
